What I must

break

“Some stories do not begin with words. They begin with silence.”

The book

How do we help someone grow while preserving their right to remain themselves?

A boy raises two fingers and begins to sing. His teacher recognizes a voice worth hearing—and only then does the harder part of the story begin. The journey leads from the classroom to recordings, media, travel and major stages. Yet this book is not about building success. It is about protecting the person while success grows around him.

Through real events, decisions, mistakes and boundaries, the book examines the difference between help and control, responsibility and fear, guidance and the need to direct someone else's path.

Music as a path

Educated in Tuzla, Mostar and at the Music Academy of the University of Sarajevo, Brašnjić earned his master's degree in music theory and pedagogy in 2024. Teaching, conducting and the development of young musicians remain central to his work.

From Zefir to Iskre

From 2008 to 2026 he served as president, artistic director and conductor of Ensemble Zefir. In 2023 he assumed the artistic and conducting leadership of the Iskre Women's Vocal Ensemble in Tuzla, a collective with a 53-year choral tradition. The ensemble received the festival's highest recognition with 96 points in 2026.

Ajdin & Jasmin

His long-term mentorship of singer Ajdin Osmanović began in the classroom and grew into the Ajdin & Jasmin project, with performances in Skopje, Bucharest, Zagreb and Linz.

From music to the book

His work in education and mentorship led to What I Must Not Break—a book about trust, boundaries, growing up and the responsibility carried when another person's development is entrusted to us.

“Guiding talent means helping it find its own voice, not giving it yours.”

Visual identity

How can something valuable be protected without being possessed?

The cover reduces the story to one relationship: an adult and what has been entrusted to him. The dark figure carries presence and responsibility; the light within represents what is still growing and seeking its own form.
